Corrosion Control Unit


Corrosion has several negative effects. It can result in failure of the installation but also in dangerous situations. When considering the corrosion caused by sewage gases, definitely H2S is one of the mayor sources of corrosion. Copper turning black (H2S) or green (NH3) is commonly noticed in sewage treatment plants. The corroded metals can result in sparking and failure of the switching gear. Obivously, the sensitive printing boards of high valued equipment like PLC, VFD and PC’s are also affected by corrosion.


Aside corrosion, also dust can affect the electrical switching gear negatively. Because of dust, microcontacts are not closing and opening properly which can result in misfunctioning or dangerous sparking.


To prevent the fall-out of the electrical cabinet, Ipec introduces a corrosion control system existing out of:

  • A dust filtration system (coarse filter in combination with absolute filter)
  • A H2S removing activated carbon system, removing the last traces of H2S up to ppb levels, guaranteeing the long life time of the electrical components.

The sizing of the corrosion control unit depends on the size of the cabinet, the heat dissipation and the set-up of the air conditioning. Ipec can provide a customized solution, taking all these parameters into account.
